How did you get in to roller derby? My old roommate, an ex-figure skater, was looking for a way to get more out of her current exercise routine. She had heard of roller derby happening in Richmond and I tagged along to her first practice for moral support. I soon made the jump from being her cheerleader to her teammate, and the rest is derby history.
How did you hear about the Big Easy Rollergirls? I skated in Richmond, VA with the River City Rollergirls WFTDA charter (Poe’s Punishers) from 2010-2013 and the Virginia All-Stars in 2014. When I moved to New Orleans at the end of 2014, it only made sense to look for the most competitive league in the area and that’s how I found BERG.
What else do you want your fans to know about you? I chug a Red Bull and listen to Will Smith’s greatest hits before every game to get in the zone.
What is your life like outside of derby? By day I am an online marketing ninja, helping small businesses across the country gain more exposure on the web. By night, when I’m not on skates, I am playing mom to our two furry children: a scaredy-cat pitbull (seriously, the biggest baby) and the sassiest black cat you’ll ever meet. As a NOLA newbie, I am trying to take full advantage of all of the awesomely unique events that New Orleans has to offer.
