How did you get in to roller derby? I’ve wanted to be a part of derby since 2007, but at the time I was active duty Navy and could not commit to the sport or a team. In 2014, four years after leaving the service, I saw a post on my neighborhood’s facebook page. The post was by a member of the Mississippi Rollergirls. I started freshmeat bookcamp September 11, 2014 and stayed with MSRG for almost two seasons, before transferring to the Big Easy Rollergirls.

How did you hear about the Big Easy Rollergirls? Big Easy Rollergirls are the sister team of the Mississippi Rollergirls.

What else do you want your fans to know about you? Serving in a combat construction battalion for 14 years as a female was tough. I had to prove myself constantly. I considered myself a strong Alpha female, until Roller Derby. All those years I spent kicking butt as a Navy Seabee and always being at the tip of the spear as a Seabee Female (usually as the only female), I would have never guessed there was another group of female warriors out there, and they played roller derby! The women I’ve met in derby have humbled me. It is the most amazing feeling to be in same room with these ladies. Mothers, wives, professionals, and athletes…they are all of the above! I would have loved to experience roller derby when I was younger, but there is no better time than the present!

What is your life like outside of derby? First and foremost I am a wife and mother, so I spend most of my time taking care of a house full of men. I am studying to become a real estate agent and a graphic designer. Also, I am a Veteran, so I spend as much time as I can helping and volunteering to help my fellow Veterans. I love running, the gym, crossfit, and of course derby! I also spend any extra time, although small, dabbling in making products out of essential oils. Oh and I’m addicted to mini weenie dogs!
