Killjoy | Big Easy Roller Derby

How did you get in to roller derby? I went to BERG tryouts in October of 2011 not knowing how to skate at all. As I clutched the wall at the rink, I thought “maybe this isn’t such a great idea?” However, having driven all the way to the Westbank, I decided to go ahead and give it a shot. The BERG trainers saw potential, gave me a chance, and the rest is history.

How did you hear about the Big Easy Rollergirls? I attended a bout as a fan in 2011 and thought it looked like a good time.

What else do you want your fans to know about you? My first year of derby following tryouts I was not team-placed. At the beginning of second year, I made the Crescent Wenches. However, I also injured my knee the very same day I found out I made the team. After being out for months, I worked my way back up and jammed for the Wenches the remainder for the season. My third year of derby was spent mainly playing for the Wenches, both blocking and jamming. This was also the year I first made the WFTDA charter. Training with the AllStars was a great learning experience which culminated in a trip to playoffs, where I supported the AllStars from the bench. This year, I am thrilled to be able to skate with the AllStars, which was a personal goal I set for myself shortly after tryouts back in the end of 2011.

What is your life like outside of derby? Outside of derby, I am a Software Engineer and pit bull lover.
