Become a Big Easy Rollergirl
We hold our annual new skater intake called Derby 101 in the fall of each year. This introductory bootcamp is designed to teach skating fundamentals while building the strength and endurance necessary to play a full-contact sport. You need no prior skating experience to participate!
In addition to the introductory practices, we host a gear workshop, skater meet-and-greet happy hour, cross-training homework plan, and a private Facebook group ask questions and provide community support as you train.
Derby 101 2017 information to come. Please fill out the form at the bottom of the page to stay up-to-date on information as it is released.
Rec is in! Rec’ing Krewe sessions run year round on Friday nights from 6:30 – 8:30. Contact us below to get started!
The Big Easy Rollergirls Rec’ing Krewe is a recreational roller derby league consisting of those who have never skated, but are interested in learning about roller derby, veteran skaters looking to keep a small amount of roller derby in their lives, and others who are looking for an opportunity for exercise and fun. All men and women over 18 are eligible to play, no matter your skating experience!
How it Works
Skill layered practices are held on Friday nights at the BERG Warehouse from 6:30 – 8:30 PM. Your Rec’ing Krewe membership is good for ten practices and purchased in the form of a stamp card. The card may be used at any Rec’ing Krewe practice within the current session dates. The skater is responsible for keeping track of card and lost cards will not be replaced.
- Beginner $70/card – Beginner classes are for the first time skater
- Returning $65/card – Returning skaters continuing basic training
- Intermediate $60/card – Skaters comfortable with WFTDA minimum skills
Intermediate level may transfer into Big Easy Rollergirls after finishing stamp card and meeting league requirements. Ask your Rec trainer for more details!
